Dr. Shapiro Presents Research Paper at National Symposium
Baltimore, Maryland
April 26th, 2003
Dr. Shapiro presented his research findings at the national meeting of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture. In a randomized trial of 15 patients, Dr. Shapiro compared conventional medication therapy with conventional therapy plus piezoelectric stimulation of select acupuncture points. His study found that patients who received piezoelectric treatment:
- recovered 20-25% faster
- had 20% lower final pain scores
-and used almost 30% less narcotic and muscle relaxant medication.
This study was too small to prove statistical clinical significance. Dr. Shapiro is hoping to enroll more patients in the study by offering the study protocol to other clinical investigators.
